Woodworking: Free Design

Get to know a material that you see and work with every day, on a whole new level: wood. In this course, you’ll be able to create something unique with this versatile material from start to finish.

Group course - All levels

During this course, you’ll go off the beaten track. You will experience that wood as a material is very versatile. Did you know that is has a lot of the same qualities as plastic? It can be bended easier that you might think! In this course you will bend wood in a mould; this is called laminating. By combining this technique with digital techniques and some imagination, you can create original sculptures.

Because this is not a standard technique, the course is accessible for all levels.

Nora van Krimpen

Nora worked as a ship furniture maker from 1999 to 2007. She then transitioned to teaching at Rotterdam Art Academy (Willem de Kooning) as a woodwork workshop instructor, focusing on technological and practical design. After completing her furniture training, she studied interior architecture, visual arts and architecture. For more than 10 years, she has successfully combined these disciplines in her own studio: studio igNor. She undertakes commissions and autonomous projects for municipalities, companies and cultural institutions. As an instructor, Nora blends digital and traditional techniques to allow space for personal artistic growth, development and the deepening of practical skills and originality.
