Sculpture: Oloid & Möbius
Sculpture is one of the classical disciplines within the visual arts. Depending on the hardness of the types of stone, you can carve a sculpture out of the stone using chisels, sandpaper, and other tools.
Group course – All levels
During the Sculpture course you will work on intriguing, beautiful mathematical objects. You can choose from the Oloid or the Möbius ring.
The Oloid is an intriguing, beautiful mathematical object. A perfect shape to practice spatial insight when making a sculpture.
It is also possible to make the Möbius. The Möbius is a spatial figure that has only one face and one edge. Although the belt consists of one plane, it can only exist in three dimensions, due to the rotating movement of the plane.
The material offered during the course is soapstone or alabaster.
In the 4-week course in the first quarter you will work on 1 of the designs. In the 7-week course in the second quarter, if you have sufficient time, you can work on both designs or one of the designs and a self-chosen design.
During all workshops and courses we work outside, when it rains and in December to March we move to the woodworking studio.
