Electronic Music Production
Music production is the process of recording, editing, arranging, and finishing music using a computer. Central to this is the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW): software where audio and MIDI come together and where complete productions can be created. In combination with an audio interface and a microphone, a DAW forms the basis of virtually every modern home or professional studio. Nowadays, music in almost all genres is produced using these digital tools. Whether you are a singer-songwriter, recording a band, making beats, or composing film music, the underlying techniques and workflow are largely the same. Precisely because a DAW offers so many possibilities for recording, editing, and creating, music production has become more accessible than ever.
Do you have a basic understanding of working with a DAW and want to start producing (electronic) music independently at X? That’s possible, as long as you hold our Music Production Certificate. You can earn this certificate by successfully completing this short group course.
In just one evening, you'll learn how to use our Music Production Kit independently. You'll receive hands-on instruction on how to connect and configure an audio interface and microphone, and how to set everything up in your DAW to start recording your own music. After completing the course, you’ll receive the official Music Production Certificate, which grants you permission to use the Music Production Kit at X for your own recordings. More information is available in the other tab on this webpage.
Do you have a basic understanding of working with a DAW and want to start producing (electronic) music independently at X? That’s possible!
You’re welcome to produce your own music at X, provided you hold our Music Production Certificate. This certificate can be obtained by completing our short group course: see the other tab on this webpage for details. Alternatively, if you’ve gained sufficient experience elsewhere, you may also qualify for a certificate. In that case, you can submit a request via hosts-x@tudelft.nl. Together with the course teacher and/or music coordinator, we’ll assess whether you meet the requirements.
Once you have earned the certificate, it will be added digitally to your webshop account. From that moment on, you’ll be able to reserve the Music Production Kit using your X subscription. Don’t forget to also book a suitable studio for the same time slot.
