Ceramics
Clay is a material with enormous potential that has been used centuries to make everyday objects, from pottery, tableware, tiles and bricks. When clay is fired in a hot air kiln, the material transforms in its definite shape and becomes ceramics. Ceramics comes in three types: porcelain, stoneware and crockery; depending on the purity of the clay and the temperature at which it was fired. There are many different techniques to design ceramics. The clay objects can then be decorated and glazed after being fired.
Course levels
The ceramics course teaches you various ceramics techniques. You will work on your own design and there's plenty of room to experiment. You can construct clean-lined, rectangular objects from slabs of clay. Plaster molds and casting clay are also available for producing multiples of your artwork. Following the drying process, your clay creations will be fired at a minimum of thousand degrees Celsius, after which you can make a selection from a wide range of glazes to decorate them. Your work will be finished and ready to use after the second firing
Teachers
Monday Florian studied Product Design at Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany. During his exchange studies at the Pratt Institute in New York, he developed an interest in ceramics. He gained teaching experience by conducting workshops with the turntable. Now he studies Strategic Product Design at TU Delft and is Open Studio Assistant at X's pottery. Wednesday During his studies at the Willem de Kooning Academy, Wilem learned that design is a field where he can combine both his interests and passions. His goal is to create objects that have both beauty and meaning, through an autonomous, circular process. Clay is the material that has truly captivated Wilem, but he is also passionate about material research and enjoy exploring the boundaries of what different materials have to offer.Florian Henschel

Practical Information
The course includes basic materials and enough clay and glaze to create your first piece of work. If you have time to work on more pieces, you can purchase more clay and other materials during the course. Wear clothing that can get dirty or bring an apron to the lessons, if you like.
