Cello

The cello is a beautiful and versatile string instrument, found in symphony orchestras, small ensembles and across many musical genres – from classical to pop, rock, folk and film music. Its warm, rich sound touches almost everyone’s heart, whether you’re playing or listening. This cello course invites you to discover the many facets of the cello, both as a soloist and when playing with others, and to experience the joy of making music.

Private course - all levels

This cello course is open to everyone, regardless of your level or background. Whether you have never touched a cello before or already have some experience, the course will be tailored to your individual goals and pace.

If you are new to reading music, you will learn note reading alongside essential techniques. If you don’t own a cello but have an X subscription, you can practice with the cello of X in between lessons.

For more advanced players, the focus shifts to deepening your interests; whether that’s music theory, exploring different styles or refining your technique. You’re also welcome to bring your own repertoire and prepare ensemble or orchestra parts. I am specialized in classical music but I am happy to help students with other styles as well.

The teaching approach is centered on developing your very own musical identity and technical skills, in a fun and rewarding way. Learning an instrument not only improves coordination and rhythm but also enhances social and emotional skills. It’s something everyone can benefit from, no matter their background.

From the very first lesson, we will play together to work on your intonation, rhythm and sound production, making practice more enjoyable and effective. Special emphasis will be placed on maintaining a natural, relaxed posture to produce a rich, open sound and ensure comfortable playing.

Lessons are offered in English, Dutch (limited proficiency), Spanish, or Italian.
